the light meridian leaves continental europe to cross the mediterranean at the “el faro” lighthouse in palamós (es) on E 3°7’45”/ N 41°50'29"// at the solar noon, with your back to ‘el faro’, you can see how the rays of the sun are reflected in a wide band of light from north to south and out to the horizon, along the light meridian. the light meridian enters into africa at el mohammedia (algiers) exactly at the grand museum of africa next to the mouth of oued el harrach
3°7'45“ E / 36°44'31” N

open to the living art: where art, history and creativity will be mixed
unesco: "all african countries have to bring their art to the museum”

to algeria was given the mandate of the african union (au) to house the great museum of africa and to realize it. the architectural plans were selected and nadir tazdait won the race. the museum will be located on 15 754 m2 in el mohamadia on the site of the sablettes.
the museum will be located in the heart of a garden of 14 hectares, consisting of representative works from all parts of africa. it will show a kinetic vision with changing volumes of the building on the basis of the views and the hours of the day. "we are not aiming to build an african ethnology museum, but rather a place where art and contemporary creativity blend themselves”

the light meridian crosses further through the sahara, algeria, niger, mali, benin and nigeria and leaves north africa for the antarctic near lagos with its university and its african museum of contemporary art

2. THE LIGHT MERIDIAN, ART ON A LINE

THE LIGHT MERIDIAN COULD CONNECT NEW SITES WITH IN SITU LANDMARKS

it is a utopian idea to let this light meridian become a light line with artistic landmarks, on sites that are provided by landowners or municipalities // these art-in-situ works along the meridian would all have the same identity of time and light, however with the specific local color of their latitude // a map with exact GPS positions of the in-situ sites in europe and on the african continent will be available //
